Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Friday 28 May 2010

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

The homes of two Sahwa members and one policeman were blown up in Hor Rijab area, south Baghdad, at 2 a.m. Friday. The families had abandoned their homes many months earlier for fear of retaliation and three civilians from a neighbouring house were severely injured.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the car of an employee of the transportation ministry detonated in New Baghdad, east Baghdad, at 8 p.m. Thursday, injuring two passers by.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians in Omar bin Abdulaziz Street, Athamiyah, north Baghdad at around 8.30 p.m. Thursday, injuring three young men.

Nineveh

Two mortar rounds slammed into a textile factory in Mansour neighbourhood, south Mosul, at 2 p.m. Thursday injuring 12 workers and causing material damages to the factory.

Diyala

A roadside bomb targeted a police checkpoint in Jurf al Milih neighbourhood, central Baquba, at 8.30 p.m. Thursday, injuring four policemen.
