Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Thursday 1 April 2009

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A roadside bomb that was left outside a store that sold alcoholic beverages in Kathimiyah neighbourhood, northwest Baghdad exploded at 8.30 a.m. Thursday, injuring two civilians.

A stun bomb exploded near the shopping district in Mansour neighbourhood, central Baghdad, at 9 p.m. Wednesday, causing confusion and panic between the crowds of shoppers, without casualties.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians in Bayaa shopping district, southwest Baghdad, Late Wednesday injuring two civilians.

A roadside bomb targeted a store that sells alcoholic beverages in Yarmouk neighbourhood, west Baghdad, late Wednesday, injuring one civilian and causing material damages.

Armed men attacked Muhammed Chillab, a director general in the health ministry, in his front yard in Slaikh neighbourhood, north Baghdad, late Wednesday, killed him and got away.

The bodies of a mother and daughter were found in an orchard in Shaab neighbourhood, north Baghdad. They had been recently killed and both had their thoughts cut.

A mobile-phone shop owner was killed by armed men in Shaab neighbourhood, north Baghdad.
