Everyone north of Lake Okeechobee will scoff, but it's now official: Winter in sunny South Florida has been brutal.

The National Weather Service said Monday that the winter was the coldest since the 1980s, with December to February temperatures running about two to three degrees below normal.

Miami Beach recorded its second-coldest winter ever, Naples its sixth, Moore Haven its eight and West Palm Beach its 10th.
