More on this Story

There may have been dark skies and threatening rain, but it couldn't dampen the excitement as the Olympic torch made its way into Chilliwack, B.C., Sunday afternoon, Feb. 7.

Thousands gathered for a community celebration in the back lot of the Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, where the torch was set to arrive just after 2 p.m.

The Dyck family arrived about 12:30 p.m. to get a prime viewing spot for the torch. Seeing it in their town was an event they couldn't miss.

"I have my camera ready," said Kayla Dyck, there with her parents, Cindy and Harry Dyck, and her sister, Kimi Dyck. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance."

"It's something to be proud of," Kimi Dyck said.

Even the volunteers were having a great time. Ashlyn Tegg had a grin on her face as she handed out little flags to wave for the torch.
