A roadside bomb targeted a minibus carrying pilgrims back from Karbala in southern Baghdad on Mohammed al Qassim highway killing one pilgrim and severely injuring fifteen others including the driver.

An armed group kidnapped retired Brig. Gen. Ali Ghalib, an advisor in the interior ministry as he was returning home late Thursday evening.


Two car bombs targeted pilgrims in Qantarat al Salam area, in the southeastern outskirts of the city of Karbala, Friday, killing at least 27 pilgrims and injuring 131 others, and the death toll may rise because many of the injured have serious wounds, said Iraqi police.


Armed men shot dead a civilian in his forties as he left the mosque after evening prayers in Amil neighbourhood, western Mosul, Thursday.
