Kentucky pol Nunn wants wrongful death suit delayed

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Attorneys for former state Rep. Steve Nunn want a judge to suspend a civil lawsuit against their client until Nunn's criminal case is done, according to a motion filed Monday in Fayette Circuit Court.
Nunn is charged with murder in the September shooting death of his former fiancée, Amanda Ross. Ross's mother, Diana Ross, filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Nunn in late September.
Nunn's finances have been the subject of recent filings in the civil lawsuit.
Nunn's attorneys, Warren Scoville and Hailey Scoville Bonham, filed a motion Monday that asked the court to release money from the sale of Nunn's home in Glasgow to pay legal fees. The proceeds from the sale of the house are in escrow "until further orders from the court," according to an agreed order for injunctive relief filed in November.
A judge will rule on the motions Friday.
Nunn, 57, pleaded not guilty Nov. 19 to charges of murder and violating an emergency protective order. Ross, 29, was shot to death Sept. 11 outside her townhome in downtown Lexington.
Nunn also faces six counts of wanton endangerment in Hart County. He is accused of firing a .38-caliber pistol near six police officers, who approached him hours after officers found Ross's body in the parking lot outside her home. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
