Never miss a McClatchy story

Gastonia, N.C., police have a pair of strange theft cases to deal with.

In one larceny, someone took everything . . . including the kitchen sink.

In another case, someone stole a woman's teeth.

The house theft happened sometime between last Wednesday and Saturday at a construction site in the 1400 block of Ware Avenue, police say. The owner reported someone took more than $1,650 worth of items, including the rear door of a house, a washer and dryer, cooper wiring from an air conditioning unit, a refrigerator — and two kitchen sinks.

And police say they were called to a residence in the 400 block of Pear Street about 10 p.m. Saturday to answer some sort of disturbance.

When officers arrived, they learned someone had taken a 43-year-old woman's upper and lower false teeth. No arrests have been made in the case, and there is no word as to why someone would have stolen the woman's teeth. The teeth were valued at $500, police say.
