Baghdad

- Gunmen attacked an Iraqi army checkpoint in Mahmudiayh town south of Baghdad killing three soldiers and injuring one.

- One civilian was killed and his wife was injured when a bomb stuck to their car exploded in Adhemiyah neighborhood around 3 p.m.

- One civilian was killed and eight others were injured when a bomb stuck to a minibus exploded in Dora neighborhood around 3 p.m.

Basra

- Police discovered the corps of a woman who apparently died of stab wounds in central Basra.
