Skating champ Brian Boitano chills out off the ice with new cooking show

What would Brian Boitano do 21 years after winning Olympic gold and 10 years after a stint as a cartoon superhero in a South Park movie music video?

As the guys in South Park would put it: "He'd host a cooking show for the Food Network. That's what Brian Boitano'd do."

It's true. The 45-year-old figure skating champ's new show, titled — what else? — What Would Brian Boitano Make?, debuts Sunday on the Food Network.

Boitano, it turns out, has always had a passion for cooking and entertaining; each episode sees him planning, cooking for and hosting impromptu get-togethers in his San Francisco home with friends, from a meet-and-greet date party for a bachelor bud of his (in the season premiere), to a gathering of an all-girl roller derby squad. All the recipes — chicken paella burgers, pear and almond crostata, bourbon bacon apple tarts — are his creations, he says.
