Here we go again. Yet another S.C. Republican politician is grandstanding on an all-important issue in an effort to gain clout by opposing President Obama.
First it was Gov. Mark Sanford blocking stimulus money that would keep teachers employed. Now, enter Sen. Jim DeMint and his opposition to Mr. Obamas push for health care reform.
With tens of millions of Americans — hundreds of thousands of South Carolinians among them — without health care insurance, with medical and prescription costs rapidly increasing and with people losing jobs and coverage every day, what other reason would there be for Mr. DeMint to want to kill reform than to put himself in the spotlight?
