Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Saturday 11 July 2009

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

- Around 8:30 p.m. two roadside bombs exploded in central Baghdad near Kahramana square. The first bomb targeted civilians and the second targeted a police car that was approaching the bombing site. One civilian was killed and 11 civilians and nine policemen were injured.

- Around 9:30 p.m. a bomb targeted Zaid Abdul Kareem, an employee of the Iraqi ministers’ cabinet, as he drove his car in Saidiyah neighborhood. Abdul Kareem died in the hospital and his wife is injured.

- Around 11 p.m. Two bombs exploded inside the church of Mar Yusuf near Al Shurta tunnel west Baghdad. The bombs caused damages to the church.

Nineveh

- A parked car bomb exploded in Kocajli neighborhood eastern Mosul city. The explosion claimed the lives of eight civilians and injured 50 others.
