ANCHORAGE — Police say a former employee of an Anchorage-based environmental and conservation group has stolen $100,000 from the nonprofit.

Travis Robinson, 36, is accused of using company credit cards, company accounts and false reimbursements to steal from the Alaska Marine Conservation Council.

Police say the theft took place over several months. All of the group's paid employees had to take a furlough as a result of the crimes, police said. Some workers lost their jobs.

Launched in 1994, the nonprofit works to protect the health of Alaska marine ecosystems.
