George Tiller had been the focus of anti-abortion protesters and public officials for years and only months ago had been acquitted on charges of violating Kansas abortion laws. Sunday, a gunman shot him as he was serving as a church usher welcoming late arrivals at the 10 a.m. service at his Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kan.
