Republicans eager to thwart any public accounting for how the U.S. government came to condone torture are thrilled that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, then part of the House minority, was briefed in 2002 on the CIA's use of waterboarding.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell warns that if an inquiry takes place "everybody who was involved in it, both on the administration side and the congressional side, will certainly be subject to inquiry."

Well, yes, exactly.

Everyone should be subject to inquiry. Some will have more important and relevant information than others.
