More on this Story

Gina Falcone-Rupp is the Managing Editor Online for McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

She joined the bureau in October 2008 as commentary editor and to work on Web initiatives. She previously held the position of Vice President/Executive Editor at McClatchy Interactive, where she oversaw production of national and international news and sports packages as well as planning and implementation of multimedia projects for McClatchy market Web sites.

Gina started her career in journalism with The (Raleigh) News & Observer in 1993. She moved to online journalism with Nando.net (now McClatchy Interactive) in 1995, where she was a content producer, sports columnist and reporter for SportServer.com. The site won an EPpy award in 1998 as "Best Sports Section in a Newspaper Online Service."

While working for SportServer.com, Gina became the site's main soccer and ice hockey columnist — writing weekly columns while also managing e-mail newsletters for both sports. In 2004, she became a senior producer for the MI Newsroom. She was named a Newspaper Association of America Future Leaders in March 2005 and was a part of the Maynard Media Academy's 2006 class at Harvard.

She was a member of the 2003 U.S. Women's National Floorball team, which competed in the Women's Floorball World Championship in Bern, Switzerland.
