Jobless reports from states show highest rates in decades

Florida's unemployment rate hit 9.4 percent in February, the highest rate in nearly 33 years, the state labor department said Friday. It was 8.8 percent in January, according to revised figures also released Friday.

North Carolina's unemployment rate hit a new recorded high, and South Carolina's came in even higher. North Carolina's rate was 10.7 percent, up from 9.7 percent in January, and South Carolina's reached 11 percent, up from 10.3 percent in January.
