email this story print this story jump to comments

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A roadside bomb targeted a U.S. military convoy in Zayuna, eastern Baghdad at 6 p.m. Saturday injuring four civilians. No U.S. casualties were reported.

Nineveh

Iraqi Police found the body of a colonel in the former Iraqi Army in al Agaidat neighbourhood, central Mosul. There were signs of torture around the head, police said.

Fighting broke out between gunmen and security forces in New Mosul neighbourhood, western Mosul, Saturday evening in which two gunmen were killed.

Maysan

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol near Police Headquarters in central Amara, Friday killing one policeman and seriously injuring three others who have been taken to hospital and are in critical condition.

Salahuddin

A "fountain" bomb targeted the motorcade of Chief of Police of Salahudin Province, Brigadier Mohammed Nejeeb in Qadisiyah neighbourhood, Friday afternoon. Nejeeb got away with superficial injuries. When the bomb squad came to investigate, another, similar bomb went off. No additional casualties were reported.
