The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A roadside bomb targeted a Sahwa patrol in Doura, southern Baghdad at noon, Monday injuring two civilians and one Sahwa member.

Two roadside bombs went off in Mahdiyah neighbourhood, Doura, southern Baghdad at around 2 p.m. targeting a U.S. military patrol. Eyewitnesses said that they saw the U.S. patrol take casualties. The U.S military confirmed that a Multi-National Division-Baghdad Soldier died March 16 from combat related injuries while conducting a patrol in Baghdad.

Nineveh

Fighting broke out between Iraqi army and gunmen in al Amil neighbourhood, western Mosul, Sunday evening in which one Iraqi soldier was killed.

Babil

A football player was accidentally shot during a match in Buhayrat area (about 3 miles to the north of Hilla), Saturday night. A guard who was celebrating a game-tying goal by his home team shot his machine gun into the air and killed the other team’s goalkeeper.

Diyala

Iraqi Police found three dead bodies in Albu Khumaisa village of Muqdadiyah town, about 22 miles to the northeast of Baquba, Monday morning.
