The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A roadside bomb targeted a U.S. military convoy in Zafaraniyah, southeastern Baghdad at 4 p.m. Saturday. No casualties were reported.

Two roadside bombs went off simultaneously in al Tahrriyat Square, Karrada, central Baghdad at 7 p.m. targeting a police patrol. Two civilians were injured.

Two roadside bombs went off simultaneously in Palestine Street near al Khayma Theatre, (a traveling theatre in a tent) in east Baghdad at 8. 15 p.m. targeting a police patrol. The explosion killed one civilian and injured three policemen and five civilians.

Police opened fire upon a suspicious car in Kahramana Square, Karrada, central Baghdad and the men in the car returned fire and tried to get away but were stopped. The investigation is ongoing.

Nineveh

Gunmen opened fire upon a Brigadier General in the former Iraqi Army in front of his home in 17 July neighbourhood, western Mosul as he returned from Ishaa prayers in the nearby mosque (after sundown), and sped away.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians in Sumer neighbourhood, downtown Mosul this afternoon. Four of the civilians were injured.

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol near Mosul General Hospital in Wadi Hajer, northeast Mosul injuring one civilian and two policemen.

Gunmen threw a hand grenade at a police checkpoint in al Shaareen marketplace, downtown Mosul this evening injuring one policeman and two civilians.

Erbil

Turkish artillery started bombarding the border strip in Soran district, 150 km to the northeast of the city of Erbil at 11.45 a.m. Saturday and continued until sundown. No casualties were reported.

Salahuddin

A U.S. military force raided a house in the city of Baiji and then shot the man inside, Iraqi police said. A U.S. military spokesman confirmed that coalition forces went Saturday to a residence in Baiji, 160 km south of Mosul, where a suspect was believed to be located. As forces entered the building, they came under fire from a man carrying a pistol, a coalition forces spokesman said. Acting in self defense, coalition forces killed the man they described as a "terrorist." He was identified as a man affiliated with a Bayji-based AQI military "emir." U.S. troops detained two others for questioning.

A U.S. coalition forces soldier died from injuries sustained following an attack on a patrol in the Salahuddin province of northern Iraq March 7, the U.S. military said.
