The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.
Baghdad
Gunmen broke out the house of Brigadier General Thamir Yousif, an officer in the ministry of defense in al Jihad neighborhood in southwest Baghdad early morning killing him and his son.
A truck driver run over a vehicle of the national police in Bob al Sham area north Baghdad killing tow policemen and injuring four.
Three policemen were injured when gunmen threw a grenade targeting a police checkpoint in al Qahira neighborhood in east Baghdad around 5 p.m.
Babil
Around 12 p.m. a female suicide bomb wearing an explosive vest blew up herself near the shrine of Aqeel’s sons in Musayyib city south of Hilla city targeting pilgrims who were walking towards Karbala city killing at least 35 and injuring 80 mostly women and children.
