The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Nineveh

Gunmen opened fire upon a police patrol in al-Saa neighbourhood, central Mosul Tuesday afternoon injuring two policemen and damaging their vehicle.

A parked car bomb targeted a police checkpoint in al-Saray neighbourhood, Tel Afar, 60 km to the west of Mosul at 4 p.m. Tuesday killing five people including one policeman and injuring 30 people including four policemen.

A cart loaded with explosives detonated near al-Azd Primary School in al-Baladiyat neighbourhood, downtown Mosul killing six civilians including a father, mother, an 11-year-old child and a one year old baby and injuring 15 civilians, at least 10 of who were children from the school. The explosion also caused extensive material damages to the stores.

Kirkuk

Gunmen threw a hand grenade in the house of Colonel Khalaf Ibraheem, commander of Sahwa in Hawijah district, 65 km to the southwest of Kirkuk city. No casualties were reported, but there was material damage to the house.

Two mortar rounds targeted Rashad neighbourhood police station, 30 km to the southwest of Kirkuk city. No casualties were reported.
