The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.
Baghdad
- A suicide car bomber targeted the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs convoy in Bab Al-Sharji neighborhood in central Baghdad city. Thirteen people were killed (including 3 of the ministers guards) and 22 others were wounded including 4 guards and 2 policemen. Also two of the convoys vehicles were damaged, along with one police car and three civilian cars.
- The head of the Diwaniyah Facility Protection Service, Colonel Mohammed Abu Atra died today in hospital after his serious injury in an adhesive bomb in Baghdad on Wednesday afternoon.
Diyala
- A roadside bomb detonated in downtown Baquba city near the main market. Thirteen people were wounded.
