A fearsome and rejuvenated Hurricane Ike roared over the Turks and Caicos overnight Sunday ripping roofs from most of the island's homes and is now heading toward the southeastern Bahamian islands and Cuba.

Ike's center will move over the Southeastern Bahamas on Sunday morning on its way to eastern Cuba at night, and may strengthen some along the path.

Ike, a Category 4 storm with sustained winds up to 135 mph, may miss South Florida and the Keys because a ridge of high pressure is pushing it toward Cuba, forecasters said.

But the Lower Keys, especially Key West, remain vulnerable and could experience heavy rains and high winds, possibly of hurricane strength, if the storm jogs just to the north of the expected track.
