Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Thursday 4 September 2008

The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

Gunmen killed Nabeel Abdul Hasan Muhsin, the general director of the projected department in the ministry of transportation on Wednesday evening in Ur neighborhood in east Baghdad.

Four civilians were inured by a roadside bomb in Zafaraniyah area in southeast Baghdad around 3:00 p.m.

Two Iraqi soldiers were injured when gunmen attacked a checkpoint of the Iraqi army in Mansour neighborhood in west Baghdad around 3:00 p.m.

Police found one unidentified body in Mansour neighborhood.

Nineveh

Gunmen killed a 12 years Kurdish child in al Noor neighborhood in downtown Mosul city on Wednesday evening. Police said that the gunmen were driving Opel sedan when they shot the child and run away.

A policeman was killed when clashes broke in between the Iraqi police and insurgents in New Mosul area in south Mosul on Thursday afternoon.

Diyala

A woman was killed by a roadside bomb in Muradiyah area southwest of Baquba city.
