DENVER — He may or not be John McCain's running mate, but Republican Mitt Romney Tuesday gave a strong preview of how he might attack Democratic running mate Joe Biden.

During a luncheon with reporters Tuesday in Denver, Romney went right at Biden's purported strength, his long record in foreign policy. He said Biden's been "wrong for 30 years."

He went through a detailed critique, saying Biden was wrong when he said Ronald Reagan's defense buildup would strengthen the Soviet Union rather than defeat it, wrong when he opposed the 1991 Persian Gulf War that evicted Iraq's army from Kuwait, wrong when he proposed dividing Iraq into three regions for Kurds, Sunni and Shia, and wrong when he opposed the surge of extra troops for Iraq.

"His record of being wrong on foreign policy is as long as his record on foreign policy," Romney said over salmon at the Brown Palace hotel.

As for his own prospects, Romney was tight lipped.

"I've got nothing for you on the VP question," he said. "He will select a fine running mate. I don't know who that will be."

He acknowledged that he and McCain differed during their primary campaign.

"Sen. McCain and I have differences on some issues, but on the major issues of the day …we are on the same page," he said.
