Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq-Saturday 09 August 2008

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


- Around 8 a.m. a roadside bomb targeted a police vehicle in Bab Al Muatham area injuring four policemen.

- Around 3 p.m. a bomb exploded inside an apartment in Zayuna neighborhood injuring two people.

- Around 7:30 p.m. gunmen attacked Satar Amir, the director of Al Qadisiya pool in Baghdad, as he was driving his car with his two sons in Zayuna neighborhood, one of his sons was killed and Satar and his other son were injured.

- Police found three dead bodies throughout Baghdad, one in Shaab, one in Habibiyah, one in Saidiyah.


- One police officer was killed as he was entering a booby trapped house with explosives in Buhruz area.

- A roadside bomb targeted a police vehicle in Buhruz injuring two policemen.

- Police found one dead body near Jalawla area in Diyala.


- Gunmen killed a civilian man in front of his house in central Erbil yesterday night.
