Olympians will take South Florida flavor to Beijing

Four years after he tripped over the last hurdle and failed to qualify for the Athens Summer Games by a fraction of a second, Bershawn Jackson is going to the Olympics.

He's taking Jesse Holt, his childhood coach, with him. Jackson presented Holt with a plane ticket to Beijing on Tuesday. He's paying Holt's expenses as a gift to Holt for the 30 years he has dedicated to the Northwest Express Track Club in Miami's inner city.

It will be Holt's first trip to the Olympics, as well.

In China, Holt plans to cheer not only for his two former protégés, Jackson and Tiffany Ross-Williams in the 400-meter hurdles, at Bird's Nest Stadium -- but for all of Team South Florida.
