Open-water swimmer Chloe Sutton heads to Beijing

STANFORD — Her blond hair still wet from a morning pool workout, Chloe Sutton sits in a large, makeshift interview room savoring life as a 16-year-old swimming pioneer.

Teammate Dara Torres, the 41-year-old four-time Olympian, holds court nearby, with more than a dozen reporters clamoring to capture her every word.

Sutton talks with all of two journalists at her table. Open-water swimming isn't as glamorous as the 50 freestyle, but the new Olympic event's uniqueness has her teammates intrigued.

So they have been asking her questions — which Sutton thinks is pretty cool.
