"I can confirm that two children were killed and three other individuals were injured during a Coalition forces operation that resulted in the capture a known Special Groups commander in Muqdadiyah, Iraq, July 4. Coalition force medics provided immediate medical attention to the injured adult and two children who were then airlifted to a military medical treatment facility. The criminal was detained at his home while first aid was rendered to the injured. This criminal, a known Special Groups commander, has thorough knowledge of terrorist activities and leadership throughout the Diyala province. Coalition forces regret the loss of life and injuries that were a result of this operation. The incident is under investigation." said the U.S. military.
