Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq, Friday 27 June 2008

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

Kamil al-Swaili, Head of Appeal Court, Rusafa was assassinated by gunmen on Qanat Street, east Baghdad while on his way home Thursday, Abdulsattar al-Bairaqdar, spokesman for the High Judiciary Council said. "More than 40 judges have been assassinated since March 2003, many more injured and threatened, and the trend continues." he added.

Two unidentified bodies were found in Baghdad by Iraqi Police today; one in Shoala and the other in Talbiyah.

Diyala

A roadside bomb exploded killing one shepherd, injuring two others in the area between Khanaqeen and Sharban to the northeast of Baquba Thursday evening.

Karbala

One civilian killed in a raid by US military early Friday in the town of Janajah, to the east of Karbala city, according to Governor of Karbala Aqeel al-Khazaali.
