BAGHDAD — For the second day in a row, insurgents fired rockets at U.S. military facilities in Baghdad, causing deaths and injuries.

At least four American soldiers were injured when rockets slammed into two American security outposts almost simultaneously.

Iraqi police said seven Iraqi soldiers died and a dozen were injured later when they found a truck that had been used in the attack and attempted to defuse unfired rockets. The rockets exploded, however, damaging several military vehicles nearby, Iraqi police said.

U.S. military officials put the death toll in the incident at three and said 17 Iraqi police and soldiers were injured. U.S. and Iraqi accounts of such incidents frequently disagree.

On Monday, more than a dozen rockets were fired at U.S. military headquarters at Camp Victory and at a housing complex near the Baghdad International Airport. Five Iraqi civilians died in that attack, Iraqi officials said.
