Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq, Thursday 10 January 2008

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

IED targeted an American military convoy in Zayouna, near the amusement park and the Martyr's Monument at 07:30 this morning. No casualties were reported.

IED explodes in Nasr Sq. in Sa'doon Street in central Baghdad at 08:00 this morning. As a joint Iraqi Army and Police force patrol arrived at the scene to investigate, another IED went off not 15 m from the first, killing 1 policeman, 1 soldier and injuring 10, soldiers and policemen.

At around 03:00pm a vehicle born IED parked by the side of the street exploded targeting a police patrol in Palestine St. It killed 1 civilian and injured 4.

3 unidentified bodies were found in Baghdad today by Iraqi Police. 1 in Baladiyat; 1 in Saidiyah and 1 in Doura.

Kirkuk

2 soldiers killed and 4 injured as an IED targeted their patrol in Hilear village, Rashad district to the west of Kirkuk city at 09:00 pm last night.

Diyala

Gunman, Aqeel IsmaÂ’eel, killed in explosion of IED as he was rigging it in Shuhadaa neighbourhood, in the town of Khanaqeen, east Diyala at 08:00pm last night.
