Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq-Saturday 6 October 2007

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

- Around 10 a.m. Three mortar shells slammed into Madaen south of Baghdad and hit a residential house. One resident was killed and 4 others were injured.

- Clashes erupted between Mahdi Army militiamen and Iraqi army in Al Washash area, Iraqi police said. The clashes started on the background of building a separating wall in the area. Two people were injured.

- Police found 5 dead bodies throughout Baghdad. 1 in Ur, 2 in Amil, 1 in Saidiyah, 1 Bayaa.

Kirkuk

- A parked car bomb targeted the criminal investigation department south Kirkuk today. 1 civilian was killed and 4 people were injured (including 2 policemen).

- Gunmen killed a police officer in Yayji village west of Kirkuk today.
