Roundup of Iraq Violence - Sept. 30, 2007

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers special correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

- Around afternoon, a roadside bomb targeted an American bomb at Zayouna neighborhood. No casualties reported.

- Police found (5) unidentified dead bodies in the following neighborhoods in Baghdad :

(4) were found in west Baghdad (Karkh bank); 2 in Amil , 1 in Risala and 1 in Mahmoudiyah.

While one body was found in Kamaliyah in east Baghdad (Risafa bank).

Salah ad Din

- From early morning till the afternoon, a joint force from Iraqi police and army had raided some areas in west Samarra ( north of Baghdad) killing eight gunmen from al Qaida and confiscated explosives, roadside bombs and some weapons hidden in secret haunts with a field hospital.
