Markos Moulitsas Zúniga, also known as Kos, is the creator of the Dailykos.com website. Born in Chicago to a Salvadoran mother and Greek father, his family spent time in El Salvador before fleeing threats from Communist guerillas. He served in the Army in Germany and eventually settled in San Francisco, where he started the liberal website in 2002 in opposition to the Bush administration. The site now draws more than 600,000 hits a day, and contributions from the likes of Jimmy Carter, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. ( / Handout via DailyKos/MCT)
