Roundup of Daily Violence in Iraq - Friday 3 August 2007

The daily Iraqi violence report is complied by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq , much of which goes unreported . ItÂ’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

-Police found 13 unidentified bodies today. 3 in Sleikh, north Baghdad; 1 in Hay Ur, north Baghdad; 1 in Sadr City, north east Baghdad; 3 in Saidiya, south Baghdad; 2 in Bayaa, south Baghdad; 2 in Amil, south Baghdad and 1 in Hay al-Jihad, west Baghdad.

Najaf

- Yesterday around 9 pm, unknown gunmen assassinated Fadhil Al Aqil deputy of Imam al-Sistani in front of his house in Al Nasar neighborhood in Najaf downtown when he returned home from his office.

Diyala

- Around 11 pm of Thursday night, gunmen attacked the residents at Al Askari and Al Shuhadaa neighborhoods in Khan Beni Saad town killing two children, one young man and an old lady and injuring 9,. Six of them wounded seriously.

Kirkuk

- Police picked up 5 bodies in al-Hakam village on the Kirkuk-al-Rashad highway, West Kirkuk. The bodies were five brothers from Wahid Huzairan neighbourhood, killed by unknown gunmen during their trip home from work as builders in al-Rashad Police Station.
