Halimah Abdullah covers Washington for The Lexington Herald-Leader in Lexington, Ky., the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer in Columbus, Ga., and the Macon Telegraph in Macon, Ga.
She previously was a political reporter-editor for the Memphis Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tenn., and covered regional politics for the paper. Previous papers include Newsday in Long Island, NY and the Dallas Morning News in Dallas, TX. She's won awards for enterprise, education and features reporting and received artist-in-residence appointments to several writing colonies. She has taught at Brooklyn College and John Jay College in New York.
A graduate of the University of Alabama, she holds a master's degree from the City University of New York's Brooklyn College.
