Frank Greve retired in June 2009. He spent more than two decades investigating and explaining Washington, winning in the process one George Polk award, a share of a second, and several other national journalism prizes. Frank began his newspaper career with the Holyoke (Mass.) Transcript-Telegram and joined the Washington Bureau in 1972 as a reporter for the Miami Herald.
According to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, China provides most of the faulty products recalled in the United States: highchairs whose seat backs fail, steam cleaners that burn their users, bikes whose front-wheel forks break, saunas that overheat, illuminated exit signs that stop working when commercial power failed, coffee makers that overheat and start fires. But few of them pay any price for producing defective wares, using loopholes to escape court cases, and without the threat of high-dollar damage claims, Chinese manufacturers continue to produce dangerous goods undeterred. » read more
