William Douglas worked for Newsday in New York City and Washington. He's covered New York City Public Schools, the state's colleges and universities, the Newt Gingrich-led Republican revolution in Congress, President Clinton's second term, foreign affairs and the war with Iraq from the Pentagon. He majored in news-editorial journalism and received his bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina in 1980. Douglas is an avid ice hockey player.
