Robert A. Rankin is the editor overseeing government and politics coverage. He joined the bureau in 1987, covering economics and later the Clinton White House.
Before he joined the bureau, Rankin wrote editorials for The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Miami Herald, where he shared in a Pulitzer Prize. He was a Bagehot Fellow in economics journalism at Columbia University. He holds an M.A. in government from the University of Virginia and a B.A. in political science from Randolph-Macon College.
